HURRY UP AND SUBMIT HERE!: Fireside Quarterly & Apparition Literary Magazine

I want to give my fellow writers a heads up that Fireside Quarterly and Apparition Literary Magazine are both open for submissions.

Below are their submission guidelines. However, this is just an overview. It is always wise to get your information directly from the publication’s websites and read what they have published in the past.

***While these publications seem legit, I cannot personally vouch for their validity or philosophies.***

Fireside Quarterly

DESCRIPTION: According to their website, Fireside Quarterly accepts stories of any genre.

“We welcome previously unpublished work (‘published’ includes work posted on Patreon or on a blog) in English or Spanish from all writers anywhere in the world, and we are interested in seeing work from people of color, LGBTQIA people, disabled people, members of religious minorities, and people outside the United States. We strongly encourage submissions from people of those backgrounds, and all others whom traditional publishing has historically excluded.” – from Fireside Quarterly’s website

WORD LIMIT: Maximum is 3,000 words but they seem to prefer shorter work.

PAY RATE: $0.12.5 / word.

SIMULTANEOUS SUBMISSIONS: YES! (But, as always, let them know if your work is accepted elsewhere.)

Apparition Literary Magazine

DESCRIPTION: Theme – Satisfaction

“Apparition Lit is seeking original, unpublished speculative fiction that meet our quarterly theme. Speculative fiction is weird, almost unclassifiable. It’s fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and literary. We want it all. Send us your strange, misshapen stories.

“Send us stories with enough emotional heft to break a heart, with prose that’s as clear and delicious as broth. We’re looking for proactive characters and beautiful language, all wrapped up in a complete story.

“Diversity is as important in fiction as it is in real life. We want a mosaic of stories, from authors of all identities and walks of life.” – from Apparition Literary Magazine’s website

SIMULTANEOUS SUBMISSIONS: No.
