I’ve been reading a lot of fantastic speculative short stories. Here are four I read recently that you should definitely check out.

• THE COWARD WHO STOLE GOD’S NAME by John Wiswell. Published in Uncanny Magazine. This speculative short story is painfully relevant to the time we are currently living in and has a fantastic villain who will stick with you long afterward.
• YOUR SPACE BETWEEN by Marie Croke. Published in Apex Magazine. This haunting science-fiction story begins with a game of hide and seek going horribly wrong.
• THE CLOCKMAKER AND HIS DAUGHTER by Tobi Ogundiran. Published in Lightspeed. This is a bittersweet speculative short story that pushes a man’s love for his daughter to its absolute limit.
• THE DISAPPEARING DREAM ENGINEER by Rati Mehrotra. Also published in Lightspeed. An imaginative work of flash fiction with a deceptively simple story.
