Moving On To A New Website

I’m currently creating a new website. And while this will most likely not be my final post here, I’m starting to transition away from blogs and moving toward email newsletters (you will be able to sign up for these soon). This is a very exciting move. However, for a variety of reasons, the new website is taking longer to set up than I expected. I wanted to post some updates now so it doesn’t seem like I just randomly stopped blogging.

Here are the projects I am currently working on.

THE SECRET LIVES OF DEMON HUNTERS

A 24-page one-shot comic that follows a married couple who hunt literal demons all the while facing personal demons of their own. This post’s cover image is a panel from the comic, which is currently being illustrated by April Martin. You can read more about the project here.

THE YEAR SKYLER RICHARDS RUINED CHRISTMAS

My most recent short story follows a young woman who discovers her family’s darkest secret while celebrating Christmas with relatives. The story’s genre is hard to pinpoint. There’s a lot of humor in it. At the same time it’s sort of like a horror story the way hot dogs are sort of like sandwiches. It will appear in Rebellion Lit’s Three X The Fun Anthology in May!

At this point most of the short stories I’ve written have been accepted for publication. Going forward I will (mostly) be focusing on longer projects.

PATCH’S REBELLION

Except I do have one short comic left.

This comic follows a teddy bear who tries to lead his fellow toys in a rebellion against their “cruel” five-year-old owner. It was illustrated by Jack Van Thomme and will appear in a horror anthology later this year.

EDGE COUNTRY

The Novel I am currently working on.

When Sparrow Williams was fourteen-years-old, she and her hyperactive kid sister, Moth, discovered a gateway to a magical world called Edge Country where they befriended mystical creatures, went on treasure hunts and learned magic. Then, everything went wrong. Moth betrayed their friends and tried to kill Sparrow. The gateways shut, trapping Moth in Edge Country.

Now, twenty-two years later, Sparrow may have found a way back to Edge Country. Determined to reunite Moth with their still grieving mother, Sparrow sets out to find her sister and learn the secrets behind her betrayal.

The novel has gone through one round with a professional editor. I am currently making corrections and will get the story back to her before the end of February. I hope to start sending the novel to agents/publishers later this year.

So that’s pretty much everything I’m working on right now! I hope to have the new website up soon and will keep you posted with further updates.

Take care and have a happy/safe 2025!
